In response to significant interest and requests we have a new programme in partnership with the Rātā Foundation to support community organisations with the know-how and tools to start their climate journey. We have joined up with Cogo*, the international award winning Aotearoa NZ organisation to bring the Cogo Business Carbon Manager Tool, and with My Native Forest, a local social enterprise that provides expert support on the emissions reduction and offsetting journey with native forests in the region.
Through this free programme in Waitaha | Canterbury and Whakatū, Te tai o Aorere, | Nelson, Tasman regions, participants are provided with access to targeted support to take some simple, effective steps on their organisation’s climate journey – all at their own pace.
The programme begins with a 1.5 day workshop to kick things off. By the end of the workshop, organisations have:
- An understanding of resilience and climate change as it relates to their organisation’s context.
- Explored how to go about developing a climate/environmental policy statement and resilience plan for their organisation.
- A snapshot of their carbon footprint and access to Cogo, an easy-to-use tool to measure your progress on emissions reduction.
- Clear, actionable next steps on their resilience and climate journey and free-to-use practical tools and templates.
We know that every organisation’s journey is different, so we have also planned for one-on-one expert support, that participants can access when they need it until the end of 2025. This includes:
- Access to a dedicated online community where they can connect with Terra Nova, other Rātā grantees and specialised partners. Ask questions, access resources and share your journey.
- Support to measure their impact using a tool that will help communicate progress and results.
Participants join an exciting and rewarding journey to strengthen their organisations for change and to contribute in a truly meaningful way to build a more resilient, earth positive not-for-profit sector in our regions. There will be 8 workshops scheduled in 2024, if you are a Rātā supported organisation and interested in participating in one, please express interest through this link.
If you are not in the Waitaha | Canterbury or Whakatū, Te tai o Aorere, | Nelson, Tasman regions or a Rātā Foundation supported organisation, get in touch about enabling workshops in your region.
